Her name is Shaw Mema. She is 10 years old.
She is originally from Buthidoung Township, Arkan State, Myanmar. Due to genocidal operation she had to leave home in 25 August 2017 with her parents. She was studying Class-2 at that time.
when she arrived here at World Largest Refugee Camp, Cox's bazar, Bangladesh she worried a lot about her study. But after a few mouth later she saw NGOs was making child friendly space around. And she go there got chance to study. But her parents worried about her future because the limited informal education which she is getting here at Camp. It's can't help her to became a doctor in her life. She wants to became a good doctor. Also due to Covid-19 her Learning Center had been closed since 16 March 2020.
Elsewhere, even if society is locked down, schools have opened. There are "bubble" or "pod" systems to keep the children safe. But it is recognized that great harm is being done to children's education and mental health if they do not go to school.
For many children, school and their friends at school are their universe. And even if they do not attend physically, they are taught online via Zoom, Teams and other digital platforms.
But it seems that none of this applies to Rohingya refugees. "No formal education is allowed. No informal school is open." As if Rohingya children do not matter. As if Rohingya lives don't matter.
More than half-million rohingya refugee children became totally hopeless here at Camp like her.
Do you think you have responsibility to support their for a better future?
